Hipstamatic Fanatic

Here’s to being a skeptic and changing your mind completely later on. I was a skeptic of the iphone when it first came out and I waited till the 2^nd generation and I’m glad. I’m not getting the ipad 2 because I believe it is being rush released and the 3^rd generation will come soon and be much better; the blogosphere seems to support this pretty strongly. And when it comes to fun effect-driven photo aps on your mobile devices I am very skeptical. But damn it that Hipstamatic really started getting me after a while and now I’m quite addicted.

Listen, you know I can’t carry around all my equipment all the time in my 30 pound+ camera bag. So I started playing with the Hipstamatic application and then manipulating the images in Aperture and Photoshop and I really enjoy the results. It also gives me a completely different was to frame images with both the square format and the inability to know exactly what will be captured with the lack of a real view finder and Hipsta’s variable frame capture.

But I love some of the images I am creating, and with shooting at the highest resolution, I can actually blow these images up for some great prints. I am potentially going to do an exhibit/show next month with entirely Hipsta shots. So I am officially a Hipstamatic Fanatic. That being said, I still do quite a few manipulations either with Photoshop, Aperture or with the awesome iphone app Best Camera. The Best Camera App is great for creating Sepia tone and B&W imagesnon the fly but if I really want to play with shadows and contrast on my pics, I use Aperture a great deal.
