Infant Malnutrition Center in Haiti
I just spent the day working with World Wide Village non-profit near the village of Cazale northwest of Port au Prince. I had the opportunity to go down to the village for a few hours and document the extreme infant and child malnutrition center that Real Hope for Haiti runs. It was an eye opening experience and I will give some brief notes on a few images. This is amazing work that Real Hope does and has been doing for many years. For these children one of the first things they do is feed them a concentrated peanut butter mixture to quickly increase their protein levels.
This child is so malnurished that his skull is swelling.
This boy is 9 years old and has HIV so severely that Shingles are breaking out open sores on his right leg.
A 6 year old foot next to one of the volunteer's.
IV placed in the head where it is easiest to find a vein.
